  • You just experienced a traumatic event, need a few minutes to talk to Amber about it, and to see if an appointment is available for some time in the next few days.
  • You just left the Emergency Room or Urgent Care after having a medication reaction to a medication Amber prescribes you.
  • You aren't sure if you need to call the Rutland Mental Health Crisis team. 
  • You are calling on behalf of Amber's patient because they are headed to the Emergency Room for a Psychiatric crisis or Amber's patient just got hospitalized. (Note: unless there is a release to speak with the person calling, Amber and her staff will never confirm a patient's status or discuss their care, but the person calling may relay any pertinent information)

What are inappropriate uses of On Call services?

  • To request a medication refill (plan in advance by checking your medications regularly, refills can be requested through the Patient Portal or you may call the office during regular business hours).
  • To request a medication change (call the office during regular business hours to schedule an appointment or send a message through the patient portal) 
  • To report a stolen medication (call your local Police, get a Police report, and call Amber's office the next day).
  • To report a disturbance or disagreement (contact your landlord, local Police, etc.)
  • To inform Amber that you are not sleeping (call the office during regular business hours for assistance)
  • For Medical or *Psychiatric Emergencies (CALL 911, GO TO YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM, OR CALL THE CRISIS TEAM) *Psychiatric Emergencies include, but are not limited to, active suicide attempt, immediate intent to act on plans to commit suicide, immediate intent to act on plans to commit murder, and self-harming behaviors that result in the need for medical attention.
